Deleting your Dale! account
Dale! is published by Laurel Daigneault, in Lima, Peru. This page explains how to delete your Dale! account and everything attached to it, what that erases, and what it cannot reach.
How to delete it, from inside the app
This is instant and needs nobody's help:
- Open Dale! and go to Settings.
- Tap About, the last row.
- Scroll to the bottom of About and tap Delete account.
- Confirm twice: Continue, then Delete forever. The account and its data are erased immediately, and the app returns to the sign-in screen.
How to delete it if you no longer have the app
Email soporte@dalenav.com from the address associated with your Apple or Google sign-in, with the subject Delete my account. We will confirm and erase it within 30 days, usually the same week. We may ask you to sign in once to prove the account is yours — we hold no email address of yours to check it against.
What is deleted
Everything below goes immediately and permanently, in a single transaction, with no grace period (the backups below age out on their own):
- Your account itself, and the sign-in link to Apple or Google.
- Your saved places and your no-go zones.
- Your preferences, map themes and garage, including the 3D models you uploaded (a model file itself goes once no other account uses the very same file).
- Your trips, including the driven path of each, and your drive statistics, distance credit and arrival history.
- The routes you have been given, and the habits learned from them.
- Your medals, region stamps and everything else in the Hall of Fame.
- Your convoys: those you led are erased entirely, along with their chat, voice clips, vehicle sprites and PIN attempts; those you only joined forget you.
- Your Dale! TURBO subscription record, and the record of what your medals unlocked.
- Your bug reports (including the reports you made about convoy messages or riders), feature requests and diagnostic events.
- Your road hazard reports and your reporting reputation. The hazards themselves carry no account and stay until they expire.
What is kept, and for how long
- Anonymous road-speed measurements (up to 90 days). While navigating, Dale! can contribute how long a street took to drive. These rows carry no account identifier and no coordinates — only a road segment, a time of day and a duration — so there is nothing in them to trace back to you and nothing to delete. They expire on their own within 90 days. You can stop contributing at any time in Settings, before deleting.
- Your Dale! TURBO purchase remains with Apple or Google. We erase our record of it; we cannot erase theirs, and your receipts stay in your Apple or Google account. If you delete your Dale! account and sign up again later, restoring purchases brings back a subscription that is still active.
- An active subscription is not cancelled by deleting your account. Cancel Dale! TURBO in your Apple or Google subscription settings, or it will keep renewing.
- Backups (up to 8 weeks). The database keeps its own recovery copies for 30 days, and we keep a weekly backup for 8 weeks, both only to recover from a disaster and never read for anything else. Your data is not removed from them one by one: it disappears as they age out, within about 8 weeks.
- Anonymous route requests (up to 30 days). Route requests are journaled without an account id and with the start and end rounded to about half a kilometre, so they cannot be found as yours.
- Reports other riders made about you (up to 90 days once handled). They belong to the reporting riders' accounts and hold your account id, your name, the Apple or Google identifier of your sign-in and, for a message, its text. They stay while we review them and, once handled, until they are 90 days old, or until the rider who reported deletes their account.
- Usage analytics (up to 12 months). The usage events and crash reports your app sent to our analytics provider, PostHog, are kept there under a random identifier linked to your account id; deleting the account does not delete them. They expire within 12 months, or sooner if you write to soporte@dalenav.com and ask us to delete them.
- A suspension. If the account was suspended for breaking the rules, we keep the sign-in provider, the identifier it gave for the account, the reason and the date until the suspension is lifted, so that deleting the account and signing up again with the same Apple or Google account does not escape it.
